The homes at Touchmark do provide for some a patio or Bungalow yards for our Independent residents. Our Heath Services Neighbourhood (Long Term Care) has a Courtyard called Fountain Park. They have undergone a huge Planting Project this year that has a formal plan design and is welcoming donations. Much work has been done this year including a new Fountain and raised flower beds. When done this will be our Healing Garden.
The Touchmark Community Vegetable Garden has been going for 3 years as an extension of our Life Enrichment programs. The goal is to provide the residents with a space to garden and share their harvest with the rest of the community.
We now have an area that is on ground level and we would love to have raised beds so that more residents would have the opportunity to participate.
Last year was a very good growing year and we had a much bigger harvest. The resident gardeners are pleased with their effort and it is very much organized by them.
Rabbits were a concern this year but with the help of the Community Garden Network we were able to get great advise and can start to resolve the problem before planting next year.
Our future plans are to continue to encourage residents to participate in the garden projects and to enhance the garden area.
