I had the pleasure of attending the Devonian Botanic Garden's 4th Annual Green Festival this weekend and I can't help but continue to be inspired and enthused about all the Edmontonians out there working to preserve a local, secure and sustainable food system within the Capital Region.

Of course, I was there representing Sustainable Food Edmonton and talking mostly about the significant impact that the existing 70 Community Gardens in the region serve in building and engaging their communities...in addition to providing an opportunity for healthy living and local food production.

Gail Hall was there doing what she does best; showcasing the best that Alberta has to offer in some absolutely delicious and simple recipes. Slow Food (the urban answer to the rise of fast food in the Western world), Operation Fruit Rescue, along with a number of local organic producers were all on hand to share their expertise and information on how we can all eat a little better, a little healthier, and a little more sustainably.

The "Movement" is growing in our little corner of the world. And it feels good to be a part of it.
