John Peterson
President, elected June 2011
John Peterson brings great leadership and financial experience to the Board. A Certified Management Accountant, John is currently employed as VP of Operations with Astec Safety in Lloydminster, Alberta. John has a strong background in strategic planning and corporate development. John spent a number of years living in Edmonton and continues to travel to the Capital region on a regular basis for both professional and social endeavors. His personal philosophies on teamwork and the importance of creating common goals aligns very well with SFE's core values and he is excited to serve as President.
Kevin Fichtner

Nancy Siever
Treasurer, re-elected June 2011
Nancy is a long time Edmonton business owner and advocate for the City’s community gardens. She has been involved with the organization for a number of years and was instrumental in starting the Grand Meadow Community Garden and a Little Green Thumbs program out of her local church. Nancy is a long standing volunteer serving on various Boards and working with the Greater Edmonton Alliance as well as a host of other volunteer roles. She currently sits as Chair to both the Finance and Grant Committees.
Chelsey Bailey
Acting Secretary, appointed January 2012
Chelsey Bailey is a partner with the law firm of Field LLP where she practices civil litigation, specializing in health law and professional negligence defence. She has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and various professional regulatory tribunals and she lectures on topics of malpractice. As a lifelong resident of Edmonton, Chelsey's volunteer experience ranges from assisting with local theatre groups, major sporting events, political campaigns and pro-bono legal work. As a new mother, Chelsey is passionate about the topics of nutrition, environment and education for children, along with the many benefits of building a stronger community. Chelsey hopes to bring her experience as an advocate to help further the goals and projects of Sustainable Food Edmonton.
Terri Susan Zurbrigg

Terri Susan Zurbrigg is a lawyer who practices labour & employment and privacy law and loves every minute of it. Prior to going the legal route, she earned a B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in English Literature from McGill University, where her research focused on Douglas Coupland, literary awards, and Canadian Literature. Her high school graduating class voted her “most likely to save the world,” and she thinks that joining Sustainable Food Edmonton is an excellent way to start. In her off-hours, Terri Susan is an avid knitter and bass player who loves travelling with her husband and getting outside.
Catherine Duchesne
Member at Large; re-elected June 2011

Catherine's first association with our organization was as a founding member and then as its first Executive Director. Her work was initially in support of individuals and families with disadvantages and later shifted to the building of community through activities such as community gardening, EcoYouth, and innovative programs such as Cityfarm. She also has over 30 years experience in advocacy through several associations. She had a leadership role with “Branches of Life Society of Canada” which offered a food collective and housing support to the disadvantaged, guardianship of a young man with autism, and leadership in P.E.O., a women’s organization dedicated to education of women. Most recently, she has lent some expertise to (SCERDO) “Somali Canadian Education and Rural Development Organization” who are working to support Somali Canadian youth in Edmonton and in Somalia.
Mark Stumpf-Allen

Mark is a Master Composter with the City of Edmonton's cutting edge Waste Management program. More importantly, Mark has been a gardener for over 20 years and truly loves the opportunity to share his passion for growing plants, flowers and food. A core committee member of the former Community Garden Network (now SFE's Community Garden Program), He continues to support the community garden movement throughout Edmonton both professionally in his role as Master Composter and through his countless hours of volunteer work. He is happy to continue to be involved in SFE's programs and to serve on its Board for another year.

Tanya Rumak

Tanya Rumak has a deep rooted passion for sustainable living and is currently employed as Landmark Group of Builders’ Sustainability Specialist. Focusing on community food security during her academic career at the University of British Columbia, she is a firm believer that because food is so personal to each and every person, it will transcend boundaries and initiate conversation about sustainable systems on a grander scale. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outdoors - biking, gardening, and hiking.
