Volunteer Groups
Board of Directors
As part of developing a stronger volunteer led organization, Sustainable Food Edmonton is seeking members of the Capital Region community with an interest in local food issues, community development, and a variety of experiences to provide leadership and expertise to our Board of Directors. Currently, we are looking for financial, media/communications, fund development, legal, and/or business areas of expertise. An expected commitment of a minimum of 1-2 years is required for director positions.
Community Outreach Working Group
The Working Group was set up to assist SFE promote its programs and reach out to the Edmonton community in a more active way than ever before. The Working Group is meant to allow for volunteers with a variety of backgrounds and experiences to contribute the hours of service that work best for them and ensure accountability to the work plan being carried out. The Executive is expected to provide a commitment of a minimum of 6 months but other volunteers can join the group on a more casual basis with much more flexible time commitments.
Little Green Thumbs
As a Volunteer "Growing Facilitator", you will assist schools with the installation and set up of their indoor grow lights and grow boxes. You will also receive training so that you can work in the classroom with children and youth at your assigned school with their indoor gardens for the duration of the program (December - June). Some horticultural knowledge and interest is important. However, the ability to volunteer during day time (school hours) for a minimum of 1-2 hours/week over a period of 6 months (during the indoor garden season) is necessary.
